When most think of travel healthcare jobs, they likely imagine registered nurses (RNs) moving from hospital to clinic to provide care for patients. While this is indeed an aspect of travel healthcare, traveling is not unique to nurses—in fact, allied health professionals such as medical imaging technicians can also take on these crucial jobs. At Barton Healthcare Staffing, we partner with healthcare facilities across the country to help maintain continuity of patient care by staffing nurses and allied health clinicians on temporary assignments. We’ve taken a look at our recent job postings to discover the top four trending medical imaging jobs in 2024—read on to learn more!
1. Diagnostic Radiology Technologist
Diagnostic radiology technologists, also known as radiologic technicians or radiographers, leverage X-ray technology to create medical images of specific areas of a patient’s body. These images are then interpreted by physicians, leading to diagnoses or illnesses or disease.
We’ve been hiring for a lot of travel diagnostic radiology technologist jobs in 2024, and while these assignments have been across the United States, we’ve found that there have been more need for these allied health clinicians in California, New York, and Kentucky.Â
Here are a few current open diagnostic radiology technologist jobs to take a look at if you’re in the market for work:
- California: Our client is looking for a diagnostic radiology technologist to begin temporary 13 week coverage immediately. Hours include 8p – 3a night shifts for 5 nights per week.Â
- New York: Our client is looking for a diagnostic radiology technologist to begin temporary 13 week coverage immediately. Hours include 8a – 4p shifts. Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience as well as ARRT certification.Â
- Kentucky: Our client is looking for a diagnostic radiology technologist to begin temporary 13 week coverage immediately. Hours include 4p – 6:30a night shifts for 3 nights per week. Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience as well as ARRT certification.
2. CT Technologist
Like diagnostic radiology technologists, CT technologists leverage computed tomography (CT) technology to build images of parts of a patient’s body.Â
The facilities we’ve partnered with have been clamoring for CT technologists so far in 2024, especially in New York, Illinois, and Texas.Â
Here are a few current CT technologist jobs we’re currently hiring for:

3. Ultrasound Technologist
We’re sensing a pattern here. Similar to CT technologists and radiologic technicians, ultrasound technologists—also known as diagnostic medical sonographers—use ultrasound technology to craft images of a patient’s body that physicians use to diagnose and treat disease.Â
For these crucial allied health clinicians, we’ve seen a lot of jobs in 2024 in Washington and Florida. Here are a few open ultrasound technologist jobs you can apply to today:
- Washington: Our client, a hospital, is looking for an ultrasound technologist to begin temporary 13 week coverage in mid April. Hours include 2:30p – 11p shifts from Mondays – Fridays. Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience as well as ASCP certification.

4. Echo Tech
Echocardiography technicians, also known as echo techs, are specialized ultrasound technicians who use the technology to create echocardiograms, which are images of a patient’s heart and its many chambers.Â
In 2024, we’ve seen a need for echo techs in Louisiana and Texas. Here are some current open jobs:Â
- Louisiana: Our client is looking for an echo tech to begin temporary 13 week coverage immediately. Hours include 12 hour shifts (7a – 7p) for 3 days per week. Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience as well as BLS certification.Â
