In contrast, the Golden state is the second largest market for healthcare social workers in the nation. On average, according to BLS, social workers can expect a salary of $84,690 a year. CA offers more on both ends of the spectrum than most states. The bottom ten percent of earners still come away with nearly $50,000, while the top ten percentile can earn around $126,880. This average size market provides the third highest median salary for healthcare social workers in the country at $79,870 (BLS).
