Job Description

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Job Location: Illinois

Type of Facility: Hospital

Length of Assignment: 13 Weeks

Start Date: Early February

Work Schedule: Varying 8 hour shifts

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Perform blood banking procedures using Echo blood banking system

- Operate as a generalist in Hematology, including differential reading, and Chemistry

- Utilize Cerner EMR system for documentation and reporting

- Receive specimens and perform analyses

- Complete reports for tests performed, ensuring quality control criteria are met

- Run quality control procedures

- Operate various equipment including Sysmex, Abbott Architect chemistry analyzer, and Echo blood bank instrument

- Handle approximately 100 samples per day per bench

- Collaborate with a team of 1-3 other MLTs depending on the shift

- Adapt to floating between benches as needed

Requirements:

- ASCP certification

- Proficiency in Cerner EMR system

- Expertise in Echo blood banking procedures

- Experience as a generalist in Hematology and Chemistry

- Ability to read differentials

- Antibody ID experience is a plus but not required

- Flexibility to work 3rd shift (primary need) and potentially 2nd shift

- Willingness to work every other weekend and rotate schedules
