Job Description
Job Title: Medical Surgical Nurse (MedSurg)
Job Location: North Carolina
Type of Facility: Inpatient Medical Unit
Length of Assignment: 13 weeks+
Start Date: Immediately
Work Schedule: 7:30 PM - 8:00 AM night shifts, 1-2 full weekends per month required
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care primarily on the med/surg night shift (75% of the assignment)
- Float to the Emergency Department (15-20% of the assignment)
- Occasional float to inpatient psych unit (less than 5% of the assignment)
- Manage patient care for conditions such as COPD, cellulitis, detox, diabetes, and wound care
- Work with minimal surgical patients
- Maintain a patient ratio of 4-5:1
- Utilize PointClickCare EMR system
- Collaborate with a team in an 18-bed unit, including 2 hospice rooms
- Provide care primarily to adult patients, with minimal pediatric cases
Requirements:
- Valid North Carolina or compact state RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in med/surg nursing
- Ability to float to ER (required) and psych unit (highly preferred)
- Willingness to work night shifts and 1-2 full weekends per month
