Job Description
Job Title: Medical Surgical Nurse (MedSurg)
Job Location: North Dakota
Type of Facility: Correctional Facility
Length of Assignment: 10 weeks
Start Date: Immediately
Work Schedule: 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care in a 22-bed inpatient infirmary and float throughout the facility as needed
- Administer medications and perform diabetic accu-checks and insulin administration multiple times daily
- Manage a diverse range of medical needs including sprains, colds, and dressing changes
- Care for long-term patients, including elderly individuals requiring total care
- Adapt to a state-specific EMR system (training provided)
- Work collaboratively with other nursing staff in overlapping shifts
- Provide care for medium security prisoners with varying offenses
- Utilize skills in psychiatric, medical-surgical, and potentially military nursing backgrounds
Requirements:
- Valid North Dakota or Compact State license
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN)
- Current BLS certification
- CPI certification preferred
- Flexibility to work varying shift lengths and schedules
- Ability to quickly adapt to a unique EMR system
