Job Description

Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse

Job Location: Montana

Type of Facility: Hospital with Behavioral Health and MedSurg Units

Length of Assignment: 13 weeks

Start Date: Late April

Work Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week, primarily days with some nights

Roles and Responsibilities:

- Float between Behavioral Health Unit, MedSurg Unit, and Twin Bed Unit

- Provide care for voluntary and involuntary inpatients, focusing on stabilization

- Manage patients with conditions such as suicide risk, psychosis, mania, and long-standing diagnoses

- Conduct patient assessments and wound care treatments

- Facilitate group patient education sessions

- Utilize de-escalation techniques and manage restraints when necessary

- Work with a diverse patient population, including geriatric and diabetes patients

- Collaborate with CNAs and other nursing staff

- Use Cerner EMR system

- Operate equipment such as glucometers, CDIs, and EGIs

Requirements:

- Active Montana nursing license

- ACLS and BLS certifications

- Experience with behavioral health patients and de-escalation techniques

- Familiarity with restraint procedures

- Ability to work in various units and adapt to different patient populations
